GAY MUSIC CHART – 2016 week 03

Welcome to the Gay Music Chart, the LGBTQA related music videos TOP 40 actuality and most request. Here is the recap for this week :

01 (+ 1) : David Bowie - Lazarus (LW: 01 / WO: 2 / PEAK: 01 (x1))

David Bowie just died two days after the release of his latest album "Blackstar". RIP to a legend who changed the rules of our world, and help us to be in a better place.

The openly gay Australian dances shirtless in his new music video.

03 (+ 34) : John Grant - Down Here (LW: 37 / WO: 6 / PEAK: 03)

Second single taken from the album « Grey Tickles, Black Pressure », the music video tells the story of a young man who dares to join the synchronized swimming female team ... and finds perhaps love whith another young man like him.

04 (NEW) : Studio Killers - Jenny (LW: - / WO: 1 / PEAK: 04)

In the new song of the virtual European band, always represented in cartoon in their music videos, lead singer Cherry is in love with her best friend Jenny and makes her love declaration, even if that can ruin their friendship.

05 (+ 24) : Toya Delazy - Why Hate (LW: 29 / WO: 4 / PEAK: 01 (x1))

Toya Delazy is a South African openly lesbian singer. Her song « Why Hate » is an odd to equality and tolerance, including for LGBT people. A gay couple is showed in the music video.

06 (NEW) : Marina and the Diamonds - True Colours (LW: - / WO: 1 / PEAK: 06)

This is a cover of a famous gay anthem made by Cyndi Lauper.

07 (- 4) : Halsey - New Americana (LW: 03 / WO: 9 / PEAK: 01 (x1))

In this music video, Halsey plays a young rebel in a distopian world.

08 (+ 32) : Rolemodel - Teen Idol (LW: 40 / WO: 5 / PEAK: 02)

Rolemodel is a canadian band.

09 (+ 2) : Sam Gleaves - Ain't We Brothers (LW: 11 / WO: 6 / PEAK: 08)

This song is based on the story of West Virginia coal miner Sam Hall who stood up against discrimination he faced in the mines as a gay man.

This James Bond OST from movie "Spectre" has just won the Golden Globe Award 2016 for Best Original Song for a movie. Congratulations Sam Smith !

Kele Okereke is the openly gay lead singer of the British band.

12 (+ 7) : Adam Lambert - Another Lonely Night (LW: 19 / WO: 14 / PEAK : 01 (x1))

This is the second single taken from the album "The Original High".

13 (RE-ENTRY) : Asbjorn - Scandinavian Love (LW: - / WO: 3 / PEAK: 13)

This single is taken from the first album "Pseudo Visions" of the Danish artist, better know in this chart for his single "The Love You Have in You".

14 (- 9) : 6 Pack Band - Hum Hain Happy (LW: 05 / WO: 2 / PEAK: 05)

This is the first transgender music band, with six transgender singers hailing from India’s ‘Hijra’ community. Their first single “Hum Hai Happy” is a hindi-remix version of Pharrell Williams’s song ’Happy’.

15 (NEW) : Miike Snow - Genghis Khan (LW: - / WO: 1 / PEAK: 15)

We present here a genuine music video. It tells the story of a very bad guy, pure evil of crime, who has captured his nemesis enemy, a James Bond-like. But after the pure delectation to have his nemesis at his mercy, he has doubts : what will his life be without him ? Must he kill him or release him ? The gay twist after so much sexual tension is a must see !

16 (+ 5) : Erik Hassle - Natural Born Lovers (LW: 21 / WO: 2 / PEAK: 16)

There are several couples making love in a motel, including a gay couple, in this Swedish music video.

17 (+ 13) : Natasha Kmeto - I Thought You Had A Boyfriend (LW: 30 / WO: 6 / PEAK: 04)

This is taken from the album « Inevitable ».

18 (+ 13) : Les Funambules - Fille à pédés (LW: 31 / WO: 4 / PEAK: 18)

Women in this French song claim their love for gay men. Lot of kisses, cudles and underwears.

19 (- 18) : Elton John - Looking Up (LW: 01 / WO: 7 / PEAK: 01 (x1))

This is the first single taken from the album « Wonderful Crazy Night », to be released on 5 February 2016.

20 (NEW) : LarzRanda - Lifeguard (LW: - / WO: 1 / PEAK: 20)

LarzRanda is a New Zealander transgender hip hop singer, who has already won in 2014 the Critic's Choice Prize at the New Zealand Music Awards. In this music video, he plays a lifeguard in private swimming pool, and he falls immediately in love for a girl a just meet over there. He tries to seduce her, but it's really difficult. Does he have a chance to flirt with her ? Watch the video to know it, but it's quite romantic.

21 (- 13) : Holly Johnson - Follow Your Heart (LW: 08 / WO: 2 / PEAK: 08)

The single is taken from the album "Club Europa". The music video shows a dance competition with an unexpected gay twist when a female dancer hut herself.

22 (NEW) : Cristal Snow - Love Is Blind (LW: - / WO: 1 / PEAK: 22)

Tapio Huuska, aka Cristal Snow, is a Finnish pop electro musician, radio DJ and former contestant on Dancing with the Stars. he tries with this song to represent Finland at Eurovision Song Contest 2016 in Stockholm, but he must win the national selections in February to do so. This is the second time he tries to represent his country at Eurovision after a first attempt in 2008. The love song and the music video are about homosexuality, as the chorus says "I burn in hell to make you mine, I won’t go to heaven if you ain’t by my side, they say we’re wrong together but love is blind." We wish him good luck to the Finnish selections at Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu 2016 !

23 (RE-ENTRY) : Joey Graceffa - Don't Wait (LW: - / WO: 7 / PEAK: 13)

The famous Youtuber finally made his coming out last year with this music video.

24 (- 18) : Various Artist - Generasi Tanpa Hati (LW: 06 / WO: 3 / PEAK: 06)

This Indonesian son gis talking about tolerance. The music video shows several people who are jugded and discriminated by others because they are different, including a gay man.

25 (NEW) : Sergey Lazarev - Take It Off (LW: - / WO: 1 / PEAK: 25)

Our straight Russian guilty pleasure will represent Russia to the Eurovision Song Contest 2016. Of course, it will not be with this song, which won the Best Russian Music Video 2014 on Gay Music Chart last year, but we hope that it will be as good as "Take It Off" !

26 (NEW) : Kylie Minogue - Off With His Shirt (LW: - / WO: 1 / PEAK: 26)

This music video is taken from "A New Season aka Suck It Cancellation Bear", the first episode of the season 2 of "Galavant", an American fairy tale-themed musical comedy television series on ABC.

27 (- 4) : XIROW - Surround the Echo (LW: 23 / WO: 5 / PEAK: 01 (x1))

This German band made a song against homophobia. 50 % of sales will be donated to Action against homophobia. The music video shows a young gay couple who must confront homophobia.

28 (RE-ENTRY) : Conchita Wurst - Rise Like a Phoenix (LW: - / WO: 14 / PEAK: 01 (x1))

This is the winning song of the Eurovision Song Contest 2014, by the now worldwide famous Austrian bearded drag queen.

29 (RE-ENTRY) : Who Is Fancy feat. Meghan Trainor, Ariana Grande - Boys Like You (LW: - / WO: 4 / PEAK: 07)

After Goodbye, this is the second single from the American singer.

30 (NEW) : Catey Shaw - The Ransom (LW: - / WO: 1 / PEAK: 30)

After the success in our chart of « Walks Over You », this is her new music video.

31 (+ 8) : Sayth feat. Baby Blanket - Maybe God Is Afraid of Us? (LW: 39 / WO: 4 / PEAK: 20)

This is the new music video of the gay rapper.

32 (- 8) : Tom Goss feat. Matt Alber - Breath and Sound (LW: 24 / WO: 20 / PEAK: 02)

This unespected but successful collaboration between the two gay artists has a music video which shows three couples dancing : one straight, one lesbian, and one gay.

33 (NEW) : Mary Lambert feat. Angel Haze, K.Flay - Ribcage (LW: - / WO: 1 / PEAK: 33)

This is her new single taken from her first album "Heart On My Sleeve".

34 (- 25) : David Bowie - Blackstar (LW: 09 / WO: 5 / PEAK: 09)

This 10 minutes MV of David Bowie is the lead single from his eponym album.

35 (RE-ENTRY) : Josef Salvat - Open Season (LW: - / WO: 9 / PEAK: 17)

After "Hustler", this is the new music video of the Australian openly bisexual singer. He made also a French cover of this song.

36 (NEW) : THE EM - Turn Around (LW: - / WO: 1 / PEAK: 36)

"Turn Around" is the first track of this Belarus duo, composed especially for representing the country at Eurovision Song Contest 2016 in Stockholm, with 18 years old members Yegor Sharankova and. Michael Sosunova. Both were contestants of the Belarus version of "Idol", where they reached at second and third places. If they must win their qualification during the national selections on 22 January to represent Belarus at Eurovision 2016, their candidature made the buzz in Belarus, Ukraine and Russia because of their androgeny.

Taken from the album « 85 % Proof », the fourth official single shows in its music video a young transgender who prefers to be naked than don’t be who he really is. Stunning.

39 (NEW) : BAREI - Throw the Dice (LW: - / WO: 1 / PEAK: 39)

Bareil will try to represent Spain at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016, but she must pass first the national selections. The music video shows several times briefly a burlesque shirtless bearded drag queen.

40 (- 18) : Hampus Carlsson - Flera Meter Under Marken (LW: 12 / WO: 2 / PEAK: 12)

This sweet music shows a young man (probably gay) remembering his best girl friend who helped him against intolerance at school.

Parson James - A Sinner Like You

Revealed in 2015 with the singles "Stole The Show" in Europe, and "A Sinner Like You" in our Gay Music Chart, this is the new music video of the American out singer. And if the title seems to be same as "A Sinner Like You", it's not the same song, but a new one. The music video begins with 4 minutes of personal confessions about his origins, faith and his homosexuality.

Indiana Queen - I Don't Know What To Do

Indiana Queen is a American alternative country band from Nashville, Tennessee, with lead gay singer Kevin Thornton. This is their new single, taken from their upcoming album "Built A Fire" coming out Feb 16th 2016. The music video presents a gay couple flirting and kissing.

Alex Palmieri - Single

After "Nicholas' Got a Secret", this is the new single from the Italian singer. In this music video, he's not affaid of threesome.

Kevin Yee - feat. Pandora Boxx - I Fcked Your Dad

Kevin has terrible news to say to his friend : the one in the title of the song. It's hard to say. Oh, well, when you sing the chorus, not so hard finaly ! And believe it or not, there are worst news after that for him. Listen to that funny song right now !

This is the new single of the Spanish band.

Bob Mould - Voices in My Head

This is the single of Bob Mould, better know his work with  alternative rock bands Hüsker Dü in the 1980s and Sugar in the 1990s.

The Blow Waves - Do It (All Night)

This is the new music video of the band from Melbourne.

Toya Delazy feat. David Kramer - Deja Vu

The South African openly lesbian singer released her new single.

Zebra Katz x Leila - Nu Renegade

The gay rapper has released a 11 minutes music video with three songs ("Nu Renegade", "Nu Renegade", "Fucking Beast", and "What U Want") taken from the "Nu Renegade" EP.

Logan Lynn - The One

Logan Lynn is a 35 years old American gay singer who has already published 7 albums in his career. “The One” is the second single from Logan Lynn’s upcoming 2016 studio album, “Adieu”.

Carl Thornton - I Remember

After "Breathless", this is the second music video of the American singer based in New York.

- the music video has LGBTQA related content, in the lyrics or the music video

- the artist is LGBTQA, an LGBTQA icon or eventually ally

- LGBTQA medias talked about it.

2 ) You can’t vote more than 3 songs of a same artist per week.

3 ) In case of an artist who receive votes mostly by a fan base, we will count only one song, in a limited time of 10 weeks of presence in the top. 

4 ) You can vote with only one account.

5 ) If you make less than 20 votes, your first vote will represent 10 points, your second vote 9 points, etc… until your tenth vote and following 1 point. If you make 20 votes or more, your first vote will represent 40 points, your second vote 39 points, etc… until your fortieth vote and following 1 point.

6 ) People who make less than 10 votes form the amateur ranking, those who make 10 to 19 votes form the fan ranking, those who make 20 votes or more form the expert ranking. We form the jury ranking.
